Dublin Based Startup, DataChemist, Launch Research and Development Hub in Utrecht

Dublin, Ireland

DataChemist, the company behind TerminusDB, has announced the opening of a new innovation hub in Utrecht in the Netherlands. The office, which will initially employ 3 specialist engineers, will scale to 20 highly skilled people over the next 22 months.

“With a thriving tech landscape, the Netherlands is well known as one of the world’s most innovative countries. It is home to market-leading organisations and a vibrant tech scene. Utrecht is at the very heart of the Netherlands and is a perfect location for TerminusDB as we continue to scale our operations” said, Kevin Feeney, CEO of DataChemist, when announcing the decision.

TerminusDB is the world’s most efficient and effective way to manage large & complex data. The open source and free TerminusDB greatly reduces the time and effort required to build any application that shares, manipulates or edits data.

Utrecht is the ideal location for TerminusDB. It is globally known for its excellent engineers and smart workforce, which was a crucial factor in selecting the R&D location. Utrecht is located near Schiphol Airport and is within 500km of 170 million consumers. Utrecht’s excellent quality of life, and the long-term focus on making the city and region liveable, will be crucial to TerminusDB’s ability to attract talented engineers and researchers.

“We are very happy DataChemist has chosen Utrecht Region for their new TerminusDB site”, Robert Strijk, Deputy for Economic Affairs for the Province of Utrecht says. “This R&D hub is a valuable addition for the IT ecosystem we already have here. I wish DataChemist and its employees good luck in doing business in Utrecht Region and the Netherlands”

The announcement is another sign of the strong commercial and entrepreneurial links between Ireland and the Netherlands. Matthijs Egger, Market Advisor at Enterprise Ireland in Amsterdam said, ‘’I very much welcome DataChemist’s decision to set up an R&D hub in the Netherlands. It’s an important milestone in their journey to become a leading data solution provider, and it’s proof that Irish tech companies recognize the thriving Dutch tech scene as an ideal location to develop and test products in the local market, as a stepping stone before further expanding into Europe.’’
